2:1 Learning Mentor - SEMH
Coba are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Learning Mentor/ Key worker to work on a 2:1 basis with a Key Stage 2 child, within an Isolation Unit of a Special School for students between the ages of 5 to 11, with social, emotional, mental health and behavioural difficulties based in the Milton Keynes area.
The student you would be working with has severe SEMH difficulties and can be quite challenging, however they are extremely intelligent and so a person that is able to stimulate and inspire the pupil is required.
The Key worker will be required to deliver pre-planned lessons to the young person in collaboration with the Year Group's Teacher and then feedback on a daily basis with progress made.
The ideal applicant must have experience of working within a similar setting for at least 6 months and hold a current TEAM Teach certificate or similar qualification. You should also have excellent behaviour management skills, a flexible, sensitive and creative approaches towards dealing with behavioural issues, enthusiasm, resilience, a good sense of humour along with a calm, caring, professional approach.
We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible, so ideally you should already hold a clean enhanced DBS certificate that is registered on the Update Service and be able to provide 2 references from previous employers. If you do not hold a DBS, we can arrange to apply for one for the right applicant.
The post is initially until February 2018 but could be extended for the right applicant, subject to funding.
