REGISTERING WITH COBA EDUCATION IS EASY!

Register online from the home page and we will then call you to arrange a face to face meeting where we can verify your documents and get to know you over a cup of tea!

Things you will need to bring along:

  • Proof of identity (passport/driving licence) and two proofs of address (utility bill/bank statements)
  • Teaching qualification certificates
  • NI number
  • Current DBS certificate that is on the update service (if you have one)
  • Next of kin name and telephone number

Coba Education will then carry out our own DBS check, unless you have a current DBS that is signed up to the update service that fits our requirements.

Finding out what you want

We like to make sure our service is really up to scratch! So we are interested in your feedback. New initiatives that we have put in place through teacher feedback include our Recommend a Teacher/School Scheme, ID cards, emailed booking confirmations, and supply teacher information sheets.
We will do our best to be the best for you!

CV mailing alert

After your registration, we proactively email your CV to relevant schools to get your name known! This has proved useful for many of our schools who keep CVs on record for future reference or are just keen to employ you straight away.

YOUR PAY

A simple, paperless timesheet system

To confirm your bookings, your timesheets are managed by us and the school on our website via a secure ‘online schools area’. All you need do is sign in and out at school. We will do the rest. It is important that you keep us fully informed of what you’re up to. If you are offered work directly by a school, you are free to agree; but please let us know. We need to pay you correctly!

Umbrella companies

Coba Education offers pay through an umbrella company. Our preferred supplier is:
  • Advance - Tel: 01244 564 564 - www.advance.online
Your umbrella company will issue us with a weekly invoice. These will need to be sent to the accounts department via email - accounts@cobaeducation.com.

PAYE

Coba Education also offers PAYE. If this is the option you wish to take please speak to your consultant about it. All necessary paperwork will then be sent out to you.

What you can do for us

It is through your high standards as a teacher, your punctuality and friendliness that we can continue to keep good relations with schools and provide you with the work you want. Here’s a quick list to keep in mind when in a school.

Mobile Phones

When in the classroom keep your phone either turned off or on silent. Please don’t answer it in the classroom! We may send you texts during the day with details of work so please remember to check your phone between lessons.

Lesson Plans

It’s advisable that you have a selection of lesson plans to bring to class with you. Sometimes work is not provided; this is where a prepared lesson plan would be handy! This particularly applies to Primary teaching posts. Don’t forget to mark all work before you leave unless you’re asked not to.

School Policy

Whilst in school you must adhere to the school’s policies. Once you are there familiarise yourself with them! Often the school will provide you with an information pack or a Coba Education information sheet. Always remember that all schools operate a ‘hands off’ policy with the children.

Presentation

Schools expect you to attend in a smart fashion. In most cases this means smart casual, or a suit. If you are covering PE you should take suitable PE kit.

Timekeeping

Unless you’ve agreed otherwise, it’s important that you arrive at the school before 8.30 am. The duration of the school day is normally from 8.30 am to 3.30pm for a full day, 8.30 am to 12.30pm for a morning and 12.30 to 3.30pm for an afternoon.

If you are running late please contact us and then we can inform the school of the situation - they like this!

How’s it going?

We are always keen to hear back on how your assignment is going. Should you have an incident in the classroom, first inform your contact at the school, and then tell us. We will do all we can to support you.
